India beat West Indies by 6 wickets in the first T20I match here on Wednesday to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
India controlled the West Indies by 157 runs for the loss of 7 wickets and then scored 162 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 18.5 overs.
Captain Rohit Sharma gave India a good start with 40 off 19 balls while Ishant Kishan scored 35 off 42 balls. Suryakumar Yadav (34 not out) and Ventage Iyer (24 not out) eventually led the team home.
Roston Chase (2/14) took two wickets and Sheldon Cottrell (1/35) and Fabian Allen (1/10) took one wicket each.
Earlier, Nicholas Pooran, who had signed a massive deal worth Rs 10.75 crore in the IPL mega auction, returned to form with 61 off 43 balls.
